Letter to the Editor

I wish to express my thanks to the Artesia Hospital for the care and love that was given to my wife, Marilyn, when she was in the Artesia Hospital March 15 to March 17.  She died the night of the 17th there.

The kindness, care and love the nurses gave her.  Someone was in and out of her room every 10 minutes checking on her.  Special thanks to Karla, a nurse from Carlsbad, and the doctor who waited for me to arrive from Roswell to explain everything being done for her.

A certain hospital here in Roswell might take notice of how things are done at your hospital.  They might learn something.

Artesia Hospital, thank you so much.

Khan serving community through internal medicine

By Jessica Lee, Artesia Daily Press Staff Writer

Dr. Muneer Khan, who specializes in internal medicine, has been in Artesia for three years now.
Khan grew up in Pakistan, went to medical school there, and then moved to New York. He completed three years of training at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y.

Khan is a member of the American College of Physicians and America Medical Association and sees patients ages 18 and up.  He said his job is to screen people for diseases and illnesses such as strep throat, urinary tract infections, pulmonary diseases such as chronic lung disease and asthma, heart disease, diabetes, allergies and a large number of other problems.

“I basically do what a primary care physician does,” said Khan.

Blood can be drawn in Khan’s office, which means the patient does not have to go elsewhere to have their blood work done.  Khan said results are returned to him in one or two days if it is done at the lab at Artesia General Hospital.

Khan and his wife Amber have two sons, ages 1 and 3, and he said they like Artesia so far. “The unique thing about this town is the community is so supportive.  I appreciate that.  That is one thing I really like about Artesia,” said Khan.

Khan’s office is located at 612 N. 13th St., Ste. G and is open Monday
through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome.  Appointments can be made by calling 736-8274.
