Surgical Services

The Department of Surgical Services is located conveniently between the Emergency Room and the Nursing Floors.  The Department consists of two roomy OR Suites, an Endoscopy/Minor Treatment Room, a six-bay formal Recovery area, four rooms for patient preparation and pre-discharge recovery, and a large Infusion Therapy Room with five recliners for patient comfort.

Hours of normal operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  However, an RN, OR Tech, anesthesia provider and general surgeon provide on-call coverage at all times.

Services provided in the Department of Surgical Services include:

Endoscopy:

• Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
• Lower Endoscopy (Colonoscopy)

Surgical Specialties:

• General Surgery - hernia repairs, gallbladder removal, appendectomy, removal skin lesions, colon resection
• Podiatry - bunionectomy, hammertoe correction, ankle/foot fracture repair.
• Obstetrics - C-section (scheduled or emergent), post-partum tubal ligation, dilation and curettage (D & C)
• Ophthalmology (once monthly) - cataract extraction with lens implant, YAG Laser for secondary cataract, entropian/ectropian Repair, pterygium removal
• Pediatric Dental (once monthly) in conjunction with ENMU-R Dental Clinic - Dental Care in which anesthesia is necessary; for children extremely young or the Developmentally Disabled.
